The only thing that saves me from myself is music!!! As you grow and go through different situations of stress, happiness, and heartache I've discovered that the only thing that truly takes me away is music. There are times in my life that I have a whole lot going on inside but getting it out is a whole other story. It seems like being strong in today's society is covering up emotions and pretending not to feel. When you go through something harsh and you leave the house with a smile and show everyone you are okay, pretending nothing is wrong, people think you are strong. But I am learning that if you dont allow yourself to feel or even cry if need be you never truly overcome whatever situation you are going through. To embrace your emotions and understand each of them is embracing what life is. When you are down is when you learn the most about yourself. Then when the clouds finally start to clear and the sun comes out you are able to appreciate whatever hard comings you just ived through and are able to have clearer intentions for the future.
Songs and the emotions that are behind them are so powerful. Its raw, its real, and its always there for you. Sometimes when you just cant find the words to express yourself a song will find them for you. The discovery of songs that express what you feel at that moment is like finding a diamond in the rough and the memory of what that does for you in that moment never goes away. It then becomes the soundtrack of your life. Sometimes i find myself getting lost in television, flipping through the channels trying to find something to watch when something finally clicks and I understand that I feel like Im wasting time....I shut it off and I go to my ipod. Creativity for me comes through my music. Whether its showering and getting all dolled up (an art of its own) ;-), or im writing, or just daydreaming music is the inspiration behind it all. So take my advice....click the off button of the television that is sucking you in and start on your path of soul searching. I promise you will get more out of life by commiting yourself to the journey of it then if you just try and escape it.
We just had a listening session for PCD album number 2!!!! I cant even express how excited I am! So get ready its coming soon! ;-)!!!!!!!!!!!
